Down Galicia Federation is a non-profit organization which gathers together the seven associations specifically dedicated to Down syndrome in the autonomous community of Galicia. The Federation was created in early 1998 to bring the demands of people with Down syndrome before the government, offering solutions to help normalise their standing within society. Among other functions, our work includes coordinating, collaborating, and proposing activity programs to public and private institutions, which our member organisations will implement.
Our aim is to coordinate, support, and boost the work of our member associations with the aim of improving the quality of life of every person with Down syndrome and cognitive disabilities, as well as their families. This is accomplished by means of better social inclusion and the use of ordinary community services, as established in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Diversity. It is normal to be different.
Dignity. I am a human being.
Self-determination. I live my own life.
Equal opportunity. With help, I am just as capable as you.
Inclusion. My inclusion is everyone’s success.
